Communication is not just words; it is also the way we deliver our message.
Focusing on presentation is essential to make an impact on the audience. There are different ways to do it: at Veritas we focus on things like strong volume, professional presence, eye contact. Sometimes we can also reinforce our delivery with gestures.
In some culture like mine, the Italian culture for example, gestures are deeply interconnected in the conversation. Yet the underlying principle of gestures is universal: when you truly believe in what you are saying, your body will express it.
Gestures amplify meaning
Some gestures highlight our conviction, like a clenched fist to drive determination. A gesture can suggest an emotion, like a hand over the heart.
Most gestures help us stress keywords and enhance the meaning of words, helping others visualize what we say. These gestures speed up interpretation and allow the audience to embrace the full meaning of the message.
Gestures convey conviction in the message
Usually listeners are not aware of how nonverbal communication, such as gestures are influencing them. When the speaker adds gestures, they appear more animated, showing greater belief in their message, feeling more genuinely engaged in the topic and inspiring the audience more.
How can we improve our gestures?
Authentic gestures enhance your message and help you connect with your audience; we need to connect deeply with our own message. The most effective approach is to focus on the depth and sincerity of what you are delivering.
When you truly believe in your message, natural delivery and gestures will follow.
When you concentrate on the core message of your speech and stress the keywords that matter most, gestures will follow naturally to reinforce those words. When you are confident in a meeting and genuinely want others to understand your point, your body will become more animated on its own.
That is why at Veritas we focus first on building a clear, strong message and delivering it with confidence.
Gestures will help us reinforce our message as a result of the speaker who truly believes in what they are saying.

Cristina Raffa
Cristina was born in the hot and sunny Sicily, an island in the South of Italy. She graduated in Foreign languages and literature and her interest is currently focused on Japanese language and culture. After many study trips to the UK, she decided to move there for a period of time and improve her English. When she came back to Italy, she started to teach English and Italian to students from children to adults, wanting to put in practice what she had learned in university. Focusing on her Japanese, she did an exchange study programme at Meiji University in Japan, where she discovered Veritas and its unique programme.
Here she can follow her passion and love for teaching and grow as a person thanks to her experience as a coach, improving her skills by focusing on the students and their progress.
With the help of a strong and united team, at Veritas she has the opportunity to inspire people and guide them to become global leaders of tomorrow.
