The Season of Small Adjustments |コーチブログ |ベリタス (VERITAS)

November isn’t usually a month of big messages, but a more of quite awareness.

The change in season, slower pace – often reflects in how we work and how we show up, too. What felt energizing in early autumn may feel different now, and that’s natural.
As our environment shifts, so do our priorities and focus.

And the motivation doesn’t come only from discipline. It grows when we notice early signs that something needs to change – a workflow, a routine that takes more than it supports, or a communication that could be clearer.

Some seasons naturally push us forward, some remind us to slow down, make small adjustments. And November tends to be like that.

Adjusting to the Season

Once we recognize these shifts, we can try adjusting how we work and interact.

Again, adjustments don’t need to be large to be meaningful. Sometimes clarity comes from tightening the task list, refocusing priorities, or simply giving more attention to the tasks that matter most at the moment.

Seasonal shifts influence communication as well. In high-energy periods, conversations move quickly.
In quieter months, they become more thoughtful and intentional.
Noticing these shifts helps avoid misunderstandings and supports more effective teamwork.
It reminds us that good communication means reading the atmosphere as much as the message.

Working with the season, rather than against it, can create more calm, focus, and space for meaningful progress.

Small, Simple Reset

November is a natural pause before year-end deadlines and holidays. Not a moment for big resolutions, but for small, honest check-ins. Try asking:

• What is still supporting my goals?
• What is no longer effective?
• What needs more space?
• What needs less?

These questions provide direction as our energy and capacity shift toward the end of the year.

As we are in this quieter season, take time to adjust your approach. Review your priorities, refine what feels heavy, and adjust your routines to match the pace you need – not the pace you think you “should” keep.

Small, intentional adjustments in November can set the foundation for a clearer and more focused start to the year ahead.

Veritas Coach

Lucija Maskaljevic

Originally from a small city in Croatia, Lucija always felt there was more to explore beyond what was familiar. Since graduating from Law school—after which people are usually expected to stay and work in their home country—she started to realize that her passion might not be in legal texts, but in connecting with people from different cultures. That’s when she turned to language learning. What began as a hobby quickly became something much bigger. Every new language she learned became the key that opened doors to new perspectives, opportunities, travel, friendships, and stepping outside of comfort zone.
Coming to Japan, she once again saw how important language is—not only for herself, but for others too. She understood what it felt like to be held back by a language barrier, and also how freeing it is to break through it. That’s when she found Veritas, and its mission really spoke to her. Now, as part of the Veritas team, Lucija helps others build that same confidence through language. She believes that acquiring a language can change your life and open so many doors—and she’s excited to support others on that journey, just like she once started her own.
