For many English learners, the biggest challenge isn’t grammar or vocabulary—it’s the fear of speaking. This fear can stem from emotional and psychological barriers. At Veritas, we’ve seen how this fear holds back even diligent fellows, and we’re here to help you overcome it.
Why Do Learners Fear Speaking English?
Fear of Making Mistakes – Many learners avoid speaking because they worry about being imperfect. This creates pressure to stay silent rather than take risks.
Judgment from Others – Speaking in public or with native speakers often triggers anxiety about being judged or ridiculed.
Low Self-Esteem – A lack of confidence can make learners feel vulnerable and unsure of their abilities when speaking in a new language.
How to Overcome This Fear:
Embrace Mistakes – Mistakes are a natural part of learning. Focus on progress, not perfection. At Veritas, we encourage learners to practice without fear of error.
Set Small, Achievable Goals – Start with manageable conversations, such as ordering food in English or chatting with classmates. These small wins build confidence.
Focus on Communication, Not Perfection – Remember, the purpose of language is to communicate, not impress. Veritas classes provide a safe space to practice, build skills, and gain confidence.
Overcoming the fear of speaking English is a journey. At Veritas, we help learners take small steps to gain confidence, offering a supportive environment to practice and grow. Keep speaking, and remember that every conversation is progress!
