“In the time of great change, one of the most important things we can do is to become a great communicators.” – Julie Sweet, Accenture CEO
Since last fall, AI and especially ChatGPT , has become a hot topic for debates about the future of business, work, and learning. And even though Artificial Intelligence can now do many things we thought are impossible a few decades ago , there are still human skills robots can’t yet replace.
1.Critical Thinking
By definition critical thinking “is the objective analysis and evaluation of an
issue in order to form a judgment.” In a world of excessive information, deep
fakes and fake news, companies will value employees who are able to judge the
quality of information and present their unbiased but professional view in a
concise and clear way. In our program we constantly practice this skill through
critical writing and business interview analysis.
2.Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and Empathy
When Carlos Ghosn was asked about the leadership he said: “I would say the
most important basic attribute is the capacity to connect with people.” It’s such
a basic skill that sometimes we forget about it’s importance. However,
especially in the times of remote work and increased number of online
meetings, this skill cannot be undermined. As long as there are humans in the
workplace, EQ skills will be valuable. So far machines can’t form meaningful
connections with human beings, so this is a skill that will always be valuable,
both personally and professionally.
3.Interpersonal Communication Skills
Even though machines are advancing at listening and speaking, they can never
replace a real human connection.
According to Fast Company, here are 7 interpersonal communication skills you
should cultivate for workplace success:
– Showing respect
– Active listening
– Displaying positive body language
– Asking questions
– Understanding online communication (messaging, email, etc.)
– Being open-minded
– Giving useful feedback
During our classes we practice all of the above skills as a part of Global Communication and Leadership Course.
These skills are the foundation for anyone who wants to succeed in their work and private life. At Veritas we help the global leaders to develop the art of communication so they can always stay at the top of the race, even against the most advanced of the technologies.
